Sale House Rewiring – What You Need To Know
House Rewiring – What is it, and What Happens During One?
Faulty or outdated wiring can become hazardous if not taken care of. During a house rewiring the electrical rewiring and systems of a property are replaced to ensure the home is safe for use and all fittings and fixtures are upgraded.
When Should A Rewiring Be Carried Out?
If you have a property with a faulty electrical system (especially older properties where a rewiring is long overdue), or your house is 50 years old or more, then now is the time. Warning signs that your house needs to be rewired may include burning smells, flickering lights or discolouration or scorching on electrical power points.
Can I Stay in My House During a Rewiring?
While we endeavour to complete our house rewires with minimum mess and disruption, some aspects of the work such as disconnecting the electricity are unavoidable. The work should take between 2-4 days (for a medium sized 3 bedroom house). Some customers choose to stay at home and we work with them to keep disruption to a minimum.
What Kind of Work is Involved?
Although we try to keep it at a minimum, some degree of mess and disruption is inevitable when carrying out a rewiring. This is mainly due to the process of accessing the wires, which involves removing the plasterboard and floorboards. For this reason, it is better to get a rewiring done prior to any plastering and decorating that needs to be carried out in the property.
Electrical Sockets: Optimise your Home
A house rewiring is also the ideal opportunity to plan the layout of your electrical sockets for optimum efficiency and accessibility. If you have electrical sockets which are inconveniently placed or (more commonly in older properties) – too few and far between, then we can install and arrange electrical sockets in your property so that your home is easier to use.
